Toghestiy (Warner Naziel)

Toghestiy (Warner Naziel) is a member of Likhtsa’misyu (Freweed Clan), Misdzi Yikh (Owl House). He currently lives in Smithers and works as Assistant Treaty Negotiator/Researcher with the Office of the Wet’suwet’en.

Warner loves hiking the Wet’suwet’en territories, hunting, trapping, singing the traditional songs, sharing the Wet’suwet’en legends, and teaching people about Wet’suwet’en History. He is a trained Northwest Coast Artist and holds a BA in Anthropology and First Nations Studies.

Warner says he was was taught by his father’s family to respect, use, and simply be on the land for all seasons. He also volunteered his time on the Kyah Wiget Education Society for about five years, and for many years worked as a Cultural Camp Coordinator and eventually the Human and Social Service Department Manager for the Office of the Wet’suwet’en.
