Natural Resource

Purpose:
To protect lands and resources of Wet’suwet’en territory for the benefit of the Wet’suwet’en, develop capacity for the economic development of our communities and to preserve these resources for our children and generations to come.
Responsibilities:
To establish an information base of Wet’suwet’en territory and provide updates to and seek direction from the Hereditary Chiefs. Liaise with appropriate ministries and organizations as needed.
Achievements:
The initial Accord of 1994 established a Lands and Resources department for our Office. Since 2001, the Lands and Resources department focused its time and energy toward the development and completion of the Wet’suwet’en Territorial Stewardship Plan .
February 21, 2007: Position on Coalbed Methane
