Our People

Joan Hunt

Joan Hunt is the Coordinator at the Early Childhood Development Program for the Office of the Wet’suwet’en. Of Inuit descent from Labrador, she is the mother of two children and the grandmother of four grandsons.

Joan has worked with the Office of the Wet’suwet’en for the past five years, which she says has been an amazing, honorable and rewarding experience. Currently, she is working on her Early Childhood Development Diploma and will be finished in April 2009. Through this process she has completed a practicum in the Skak Togh Infant Toddler program, so you may have seen her playing with the babies there. She has also spent time at the Wit’suwit’en Daycare in Moricetown.

During Joan’s time with the Office of the Wet’suwet’en she has worked with many Elders and have received much guidance from them and the chiefs both past and present. This has provided her with the growing knowledge to preserve the traditions and culture of the Wet’suwet’en people. Joan looks forward to meeting all the new families, parents, elders and children and spending the time to connect with them providing the services they require.

In her spare time, Joan enjoys hobbies including crafts, exercise, camping and spending time with my family and friends.
